Gage R&R
Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility · grr · gauge r&r
TL;DR
The core MSA study — how much of your measurement variation comes from the gauge (repeatability) vs the operator (reproducibility). %GRR < 10% acceptable, 10–30% conditional, > 30% reject.
Gage R&R takes typically 3 operators × 10 parts × 3 trials and decomposes the variation into part-to-part, repeatability (same operator, same part) and reproducibility (operator-to-operator). %GRR is the combined measurement-system variation as a percentage of total variation or tolerance.
V5 captures Gage R&R study runs against the instrument record and forces a renewal cycle — typically annual or after any repair / recalibration.
