Drug Supply Chain Security Act

US law requiring item-level serialisation and electronic traceability across the Rx drug supply chain.

The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requires manufacturers, repackagers, wholesale distributors and dispensers of human prescription drugs to track product at the package level through the supply chain, with serialised 2D barcodes (GS1 DataMatrix) and electronic transaction data (T3 — transaction info, history, statement). Full enforcement: November 2024 (manufacturers/repackagers) and stabilised through 2025 for trading partners.
