V5 Ultimate

Can V5 Ultimate run on Windows Server?

Yes. For regulated (GxP) sites the pre-validated path is a Linux VM (Ubuntu 22.04 or RHEL 9) on the customer's Hyper-V, VMware, Nutanix or Proxmox host — covered by the shipped IQ/OQ pack at no extra cost. For non-regulated sites you can also run V5 directly on Windows Server via Docker Desktop + WSL2 under the standard support term.

Windows IT keeps the host, networking and backups either way. The only thing that changes between options is the validation story, and validation only matters at regulated sites. A fully validated Windows-native install (no Linux guest) for a GxP site is available as a chargeable professional-services engagement — bespoke IQ/OQ rewrite, separate test pass on the customer's exact Windows + WSL2 + Docker Desktop stack, and a written variance to the support term. Postgres 15/16 runs natively on Windows in any of these options.
