What is MRP software?
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software explodes a forecast or sales order through a multi-level Bill of Materials, nets against on-hand and in-transit inventory, and produces time-phased planned purchase orders and work orders. MRP II extends this with capacity, labour and finance. V5 Ultimate runs MRP and master production scheduling on the same records as your kiosk, lots and batch records.
How is V5's MRP different from my ERP's MRP module?
Your ERP's MRP plans from whatever inventory it last got told about. V5's MRP plans from the actual floor — live lots, real yields, real scrap, real substitutions, real holds — and a planner reviews every recommendation against stock, lead times and constraints.
Is MRP available on every plan?
Plan contents vary. Pricing is per concurrent seat across three tiers; see the pricing page or ask us which plan covers the modules you need.
Do I have to throw out my ERP?
No. V5 MRP can run as the planning brain with the ERP as the financial system of record (POs, GL, AP) . Which system owns each record is agreed when the integration is configured; V5 is not a replacement for your finance system.
How is the AI involved in planning?
AI assists; it does not decide. Where AI features are on your plan they can suggest items for a planner to review, but they never approve a plan or raise a purchase order. AI demand and yield forecasting is listed as coming soon.
Does MRP work for batch / process manufacturing, not just discrete?
Yes — V5 handles batch and process manufacturing as well as discrete. Co-products, by-products, yield curves, percentage formulas and changeover rules are part of planning.
