Open sales orders, the consensus forecast, released-only lot on-hand, QC holds and preferred-vendor lead times all feed the planner. Approved POs flow out to the supplier portal — with the portal-ack timestamp flowing back onto the PO.

When it gets messy

The edge cases a real planner lives in.

Textbook MRP assumes lead-times don't move, lots never hold, and sales never push a rush. Here are four moments where V5 doesn't shrug.

Lot expires before its demand week

FEFO walks lots earliest-expiry-first. Any residual that won't be consumed before its expiry week surfaces as an EXPIRING badge on the buy row — lot, at-risk qty, expiry date.

Planned release week goes negative — MRP flags the line as EXPEDITE (any_expedite). The planner sees every buy line that can't make its required week even if ordered today.

Re-run MRP and Save run. The History dialog lists every saved snapshot with headline counts and a Δ-vs-current column — Approve locks the new plan, Archive soft-deletes the old.
