What is shop floor execution software?

Software that runs production at the point of work: it presents the current operation and its effective instruction revision to the operator, enforces the order operations run in, captures data from scales, scanners and instruments directly, records exceptions at the moment they occur, and reports WIP, downtime and OEE in real time. It is the execution layer between ERP planning and the machines.

How is this different from shop floor data collection?

Data collection records what happened. Execution controls what is allowed to happen — it will refuse an out-of-sequence operation, an expired material or an uncalibrated instrument. V5 does both; the enforcement is the part that removes the error.

Is this the same as MES?

Shop floor execution is the core of an MES. V5 is a full MES, so alongside execution you also get batch and device records, deviations, calibration, inventory and quality on the same data model.

Does it work with our existing scales and printers?

Yes. The V5 Device Bridge is a signed local agent for Windows and macOS that connects scales, balances, scanners, label printers and instruments over USB, serial, Bluetooth or Ethernet.

What happens if the network drops mid-shift?

The kiosk tolerates short outages and reconciles when the connection returns, so the line does not stop because a switch did.

How quickly can one line go live?
