GLN
Global Location Number · global location number
TL;DR
A GS1 identifier for legal entities, functions, and physical locations — the 'who' and 'where' in supply-chain transactions.
A GLN is a 13-digit GS1 identifier for a party (legal entity, department) or place (warehouse, dock door, clinic). GLNs are the addressing layer for EDI, EPCIS, FSMA §204 KDEs, and DSCSA transactions: every 'ship from / ship to / location of event' field uses a GLN.
V5 stores GLNs on every site, customer, supplier, and dock door so EDI 856 ASNs and EPCIS events are populated without manual lookup.
