V5 Ultimate vs Ideagen Q-Pulse
V5 Ultimate vs Ideagen Q-Pulse
Ideagen Q-Pulse is a long-established eQMS used widely in aerospace, defence, life sciences and food across the UK and EU — document control, audit, CAPA, training and risk management with a solid ISO 9001 / AS9100 / ISO 13485 / 17025 lineage. V5 Ultimate is a regime-aware MES + WMS + QMS on one validated platform. This page is the honest version of where Q-Pulse is the right answer and where V5 is.

What each product actually is
Q-Pulse is an eQMS for compliance-heavy organisations — multi-standard (9001, 13485, 17025, AS9100, 45001) document, audit, CAPA and training management with a strong UK/EU customer base. V5 Ultimate is a unified MES + WMS + QMS: the QMS is wired to the floor event that triggered it. If your scope is pure-QMS across many standards, Q-Pulse is solid. If you also need to run production execution or eliminate paper batch records, V5 replaces both layers.
Multi-standard coverage
Q-Pulse's strength is covering ISO 9001, 13485, 17025, AS9100 and 45001 in a single deployment — useful for organisations with mixed certifications (a manufacturer that's also a calibration lab, for example). V5's regime-aware architecture goes further on regulated-manufacturing standards (21 CFR 211, 820, 117, 1271, EU MDR, EU GMP, FSMA 204, BRCGS, SQF, ISO 22716, MoCRA) and ties evidence to actual production records — but Q-Pulse is the more natural fit for a pure-QMS, multi-ISO organisation that doesn't run a manufacturing floor.
Execution on the floor
Q-Pulse does not run the floor — it integrates with your ERP / MES if you have one. V5 was built operator-first: kiosk + handheld UX, scale streaming, scanner-driven weigh-out, gated e-sigs, label printing at the station, equipment lockouts for out-of-cal tools. The batch record self-builds as the operator works. Single-system buyers eliminate a separate MES purchase.
Deployment and validation
Q-Pulse is offered as cloud (Ideagen Cloud) or on-premises Windows installation. V5 ships as Lovable Cloud (multi-tenant Postgres with row-level isolation) and V5 Ultimate On-Premises (containerised Linux, air-gap capable, customer-owned keys). For air-gap defence / radiopharma scenarios V5's container model is generally easier to validate against modern security baselines.
AI behaviour
Ideagen has added AI capabilities across its product portfolio. V5's AI layer is regime-aware — it changes terminology, evidence templates and prompts based on which industry the tenant is in, and is constrained to never produce a release-gating decision a human hasn't co-signed. Both vendors are explicit that AI does not e-sign under Part 11.
Pricing model
Q-Pulse is per-user / per-year, sales-led, typically annual or multi-year contracts. V5 publishes per-user / month for Cloud and an annual term licence for On-Premises, with a free trial and no minimum seat count for self-serve evaluation.
Where Q-Pulse is the better fit
Pure-QMS organisations with mixed ISO certifications (9001 + 17025 + 45001, etc.), UK/EU teams with an existing Q-Pulse install and large change-aversion, or buyers who specifically want a long-established ISO-focused vendor.
Where V5 Ultimate is the better fit
Regulated manufacturers (pharma, device, food, cosmetics, cannabis, supplements) who need eQMS + execution + warehouse on one validated platform, on-prem / air-gap requirements, teams replacing paper BMRs / DHRs, or organisations that want regime-aware AI and a free-trial / self-serve evaluation path.

Frequently asked
Can V5 Ultimate replace Q-Pulse for ISO 9001 / 13485?
Yes — document control, training, audit, CAPA, change control and supplier quality all ship in V5's QMS with a validation pack aligned to those standards. The audit-readiness deliverables are equivalent for the regulated-manufacturing scope; Q-Pulse remains the more natural fit if your scope is purely ISO 9001 + 17025 + 45001 with no manufacturing execution.
We're a UK manufacturer — does V5 support BRCGS, MHRA, EU GMP?
Can we migrate from Q-Pulse to V5?
Yes. We import documents (with version history), training matrices, supplier records and open CAPAs, and run a parallel period before cutover. Mid-size migrations are typically 8–12 weeks end-to-end.
