Global Trade Item Number
GS1's globally unique product identifier — the 'product' part of every retail barcode.
A Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) is the GS1-administered globally unique identifier for a tradable product. UPC-12, EAN-13 and ITF-14 are all forms of GTIN. Used together with batch/lot it produces a fully traceable instance: 'this product, this batch'.
